Mark Burns is a playwright, librettist and songwriter who was born and raised in Chicago. He recently earned an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. While at Tisch, he wrote book and lyrics for two musicals, Everything for You (20 minutes) and Cora and the Great Beyond (full-length), both with composer Boram Han. In addition, his work was performed as part of Bill Finn's NYU cabaret. His full-length play Land of the Free was produced by Babes with Blades in Chicago. RUFSTUF, a one-act, was an official selection in the Fine Print Theatre's Citizens Play Festival (Chicago). Mark is an apprentice alum of the Actors Theatre of Louisville, where his ten-minute play Kind of Blue was produced as part of the Apprentice Winter Showcase. In addition, he is a founding member of the pop band The Real Jane Martin, who have two EPs to their credit. He and his lovely wife Linda live in Chicago.
